Damian Williams in
Don’t Dress for Dinner
by Marc Camoletti adapted for the English stage by Robin Hawdon

In his stylishly converted French farmhouse, Bernard is hoping to weekend in the country with his chic Parisian mistress Suzy. He has arranged for a cordon bleu cook, is in the process of packing his wife Jacqueline off to her mother, and invited along his best friend Robert as a suitable alibi. It’s perfect.

Chesterfield Playgoers Society presents
The Stirrings in Sheffield on a Saturday Night
by Alan Cullen

“A musical documentary set against the backdrop of music hall, revue sketch, monologue and folk song, the play chronicles the violent stirrings in the Sheffield politics of the 1860’s.

The central problems
then as now, were, wages and prices: the unions fighting the small employer and the machine: a new business attempting to compete with a monopoly.”

The play was first produced at Sheffield Playouse in the 1960s and is based on historical facts.

An Amateur Production.

All is quiet in the great house… Clara creeps downstairs...the Christmas Tree stands alone… In the darkness, through the curtains, the moonlight beams onto the colourful presents offered there. It’s midnight, the clock strikes heralding in the spirit of Christmas…Yet something stirs in the darkness beyond and thus unfolds this magical festive tale. Thick as Thieves is a vibrant new comedy by Mark Whiteley that takes the audience into the comically dark underbelly of the world of small-time criminals.

Friends Steph and Barry have never been model citizens but they are finding it increasingly hard to stay on the straight and narrow. When the pair decide to turn their hands to housebreaking it leads to hilarious consequences.

Our hapless duo has to contend with, amongst other things, shopping deliveries, nosey neighbours, a dead budgie and a shocking discovery that could change their lives forever. As the night becomes more frantic and frenzied the pair realise that life in crime isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
